Why did you choose Northumbria to study Law?

Northumbria was always my first choice. Firstly it is renowned for its commitment for providing excellent legal education and secondly, the new state-of-the- art teaching facilities for the School of Law meant a conducive, efficient and effective teaching and learning environment. This was coupled with the fact that Northumbria University offers high quality degrees and rated as one of Britain’s best modern universities.

How did you feel during your first week at Northumbria?

At first, I felt very lost but I soon made many friends as everyone was in the same boat. With the help of the friendly people around Newcastle and the University, I started to find my way around. By the first week, my international friends even organised a welcome dinner where we got to know each other better! And from then on, there were so many things organised that there wasn’t time to feel miserable or homesick.

What do you do when you’re not studying?

Adventure and exploration keep me occupied when I am not studying. I have visited Alnwick Castle (Harry Potter) and many other castles. I have shopped at the local flea market and visited the remarkable Millennium Bridge. I have gone in search of the local delicacies like the frighteningly good fish and chips. I have also gone for picnics and walks at the Beach at Tynemouth. Last but not least, I do also work out at the Team Northumbria City Health and Fitness Centre.

Newcastle itself is a great city to live in as a student. Newcastle has it all. Not only is the city centre close to the campus, it also provides everything one would need as an international student. It is also culture-rich with a mixed multi-racial community and has many historical landmarks and lovely architecture.
