MELRIG brings together academics, postgraduate researchers and practitioners who have a specialist interest in medical and mental health law, policy and practice.

MELRIG include academics drawn from the Schools of Law and Health & Life Sciences who have strong links with the local legal, medical and mental health communities including law firms, NGOs, mental health and social care professionals and NHS mental health trusts.

MELRIG is responsive in its approach, outward facing, flexible and collaborative.  Its objectives include organising and contributing to profile raising events, engagement with a wide range of external stakeholders, promoting knowledge exchange activity with public, private and third sector organisations, the dissemination of research outputs, organising conferences (national and international) and the enhancement of teaching strategies.
