Our Alumni - Work For Us
Philip graduated from Northumbria University with a BSc in Business Information Technology in 1997 and gained an MSc in Distance Education with Athabasca University, Canada by distance learning in 2008.
In 1997, following graduation, he gained employment with Northumbria within the field of Technical support. In 2001, he began teaching full time with the then School of Informatics, later to become the School of Computing, Engineering and Information Sciences, delivering modules associated with the Computing Division.
In 2002, Philip was promoted to Senior Lecturer before being appointed as Programme Leader for the BSc (Hons) Computer Forensics course, and currently teaches modules which include Computer Forensic Applications, Advanced Digital Forensics and Legal and Evidentiary Aspects of Computer Forensics. He both supports and develops the software and hardware in the school’s dedicated computer forensics lab and is actively involved in University and School Recruitment events.
He enjoys the face to face contact element that teaching provides, and the research and development required to plan for lectures, giving him the opportunity to share his knowledge with others.
Philip was appointed a European Network and Information Security Agency (ENISA) expert in 2010 and again in 2012 for identifying emerging and future ICT risks in the area of Information Security Risk Assessment and Management. Philip served as a Special Constable with Durham Constabulary for over 14 years. In his spare time, he enjoys, golf, cycling, DIY and reading World War II History.
