Marion Haskin

Assistant Professor

Department: Nursing, Midwifery & Health

Marion qualified as a Registered General Nurse in 1991 and continued to work within the specialism of Urology at Newcastle Hospitals for the following 24 years in the roles of Staff Nurse, Ward Sister, Clinical Nurse Specialist for Urology Stoma Care/Continence and Clinical Educator/Practice Development Co-ordinator for the Trust.

In her role as Practice Development Co-ordinator Marion was the lead for the Accredited Work Based Learning Programme (AWBL) where she successfully co-ordinated specialist courses between the Trust and University. During this time she also designed and delivered a specific urology module to meet the training needs of the nurses within the region.

Marion is a Senior Lecturer teaching predominantly on the BSc (Hons) Nursing Science/Registered Nurse Programme. Her specialist interests are urology, continence, stoma care, intermittent catheterisation, practice development, service improvement and the patient voice. She is currently undertaking a PhD which is exploring the experience of training in Intermittent Self Catheterisation from the perspective of the patient and the nurse.
