Dr Shashi Yadav

Dr Shashi Kant Yadav's research focuses on just energy transition, climate law, and environmental regulation. He is a member of the Law in Emerging Contexts (LiEC) research group at Northumbria University and holds a PhD in Law from the University of Surrey, where his thesis examined the regulation of shale gas as a transitional fuel in India and Australia through a comparative contextual approach to the precautionary principle.

Shashi's scholarship spans energy law, environmental law, and climate justice. He has published in leading journals, including the Journal of Energy and Natural Resources Law, Climate Law, and the Environmental Law Review, and has contributed op-eds to The Conversation on topics ranging from fossil fuel regulation to climate change litigation. He also peer reviews articles for leading environmental law journals. He is currently working on a monograph focusing on the role of law in shaping climate science.

Alongside his research, Shashi has been an invited speaker at institutions including Columbia University's Sabin Centre for Climate Change and the University of Edinburgh's Centre for South Asian Studies. He is a Research Affiliate at the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad, where he focuses on the role of law in ensuring just energy transition in India.

Shashi teaches across a range of modules, including Land Law, UK Environmental Law, and Property Issues in Practice. He holds a Postgraduate Certificate in Learning and Teaching in Higher Education (with distinction) and is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
