Your Learning ExperienceThe Mechanical Engineering MSc course will provide you with advanced knowledge and skills in key aspects of mechanical engineering.
Throughout the duration of this course, you will develop a critical awareness of ethical and environmental considerations, in addition to learning about advanced mechanical engineering practice and theory.
During your second year of study you will have the opportunity to work in a group consultancy project, positioned in an area of relevance to the programme. This advanced practice will enrich your learning experience and gives you hands on, practical experience in order to help you stand out to employers*.
*Be aware that all Advanced Practice with investigative consultancy project routes are similar to many of our 1-Year MSc with consultancy project routes, while 2-year Advanced Practice course spends more dedicated time in the Business Clinic, reflected on the total assessment input for the two 60 credit modules.
Accredited by the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE) on behalf of the Engineering Council as the course meets the requirements for Further Learning for registration as a Chartered Engineer. Candidates must hold a CEng accredited BEng/BSc (Hons) undergraduate first degree to comply with full CEng registration requirements.
Our accreditation with the IMechE ensures that this course’s content is in-line with the latest developments within this sector, making our course highly valued by employers. By completing this course, you will have completed the academic requirement to become a Chartered Engineer, a status that is associated with improved employability and higher salaries.
Employability is embedded throughout all aspects of your course, and you will leave with enhanced key skills such as communication, computing, and teamwork.
The Advanced Practice semester will help you develop a track record of achievement that will help you stand out from other job applicants. Full UK Fee: £14,250
Tuition fees in the academic year 2027/28* will be £10,050. Fees are set in line with the UK Government's tuition fee cap. The University may increase fees in subsequent years in line with any changes to the tuition fee cap. Increases will be linked to inflation. For example, increases may be linked to RPIX (Retail Price Index excluding mortgage interest payments) Students will be notified of any increase ahead of it taking effect. Student fee loans rise in line with the tuition fees cap.

Full International Fee: £24,500
This is the tuition fee for your first year of study. You should expect to pay tuition fees for every year of study. The University may increase fees in the second and subsequent years of your course at our discretion in line with any inflationary or other uplift. Students will be notified of any increase ahead of it taking effect.
