Why did you choose Northumbria University, Newcastle?

I love Newcastle as a city, and Northumbria suited the type of learning environment that I was looking for.

What do you think of Newcastle and our region and what are your favourite things to do?

Newcastle is an incredibly diverse, and interesting place to live. There's a huge amount of things to do, making it incredibly hard to ever feel bored. Since moving to Newcastle, I have a new found interest in football and supporting my local team.

What has surprised you most about living in Newcastle and this region? What has impressed you most?

Just how much of a student city it really is is surprising! That alone is impressing.

Did you find Northumbria University welcoming?  Was it easy to fit in?

Northumbria in my experience so far, has always been incredibly welcoming. Even before the courses started this year, I had made contact with people from my year, and started to make friends.

What have you enjoyed most about coming to Northumbria University?

The new learning environment is a welcome change to secondary school, and the great social side of university has also made the year enjoyable.

Who has helped you most since you came to Northumbria?

My course tutors, and friends from different years throughout the university.

Who has inspired you most at Northumbria University?

My seminar tutor, and his vast knowledge of all things English Literature.

What is your favourite place on campus?

The Student Union.

Have you joined any sports teams, clubs or been involved in any volunteer projects? 

I work at open days for the university, which is always interesting. It's weird to think this time last year, I was asking the student reps what it was like to be at Northumbria.

What is the best thing about your course?

The varied subjects of study. There's not just one single focus throughout the modules, but instead a wide variety of learning materials.

What do you want to do in the future?  What skills have you learned/improved that you think will be of most use in your future career?

I want to be a writer, and so far, everything on the course has been helpful or inspiring!

How do you feel you have changed as a person since being at Northumbria University, Newcastle?

I've become far more confident and outgoing since I started University, and I've actively become a member of the community within Uni.

If you had 3 words to sum up your time with us what would they be?

Incredibly forward thinking.

Yes
