Alexandra Begg

BSc (Hons) Criminology and Forensic Science

Where are you from?

Stanley, County Durham

Why did you choose Northumbria University, Newcastle?

I had previously studied Maths with Business Management but did not enjoy the course. However I really enjoyed the university.

What do you think of Newcastle and our region and what are your favourite things to do?

Newcastle is a lovely city, love the nightlife, love how friendly the geordies are, how pretty the city looks at night. Also isn't too expensive and there are lots of restaurants to eat out in that are reasonably  priced.

What have you enjoyed most about coming to Northumbria University?

Meeting new people, love my course, love how friendly everyone is and the facilities.

Who has inspired you most at Northumbria University?

Meeting people from the forensics industry.

What is your favourite place on campus?

Habita is good value for money and the library is great.

What is the best thing about your course?

Its very interesting and the tutors/lecturers are nice.

What are the most valuable lessons you have learnt to date?

Managing my money!

What do you want to do in the future? What skills have you learned/improved that you think will be of most use in your future career?

My course I feel will set me up nicely for working for a large forensic science firm specialising in blood analysis, also maybe to work as a Scenes of Crime officer for the police.

If you could offer some advice to students thinking of coming to study here what would you say?

Make sure you take care of your money. Turn up to lectures and seminars and get the most out of your experience living in halls, making friends and going out but balancing this with work.

If you had 3 words to sum up your time with us what would they be?

Hard work, rewarding, fun

Would you recommend Northumbria University to a friend?
