BEng (Hons) Mechanical Engineering

I chose Northumbria…

because they were really responsive to my needs. I was already studying in the UK and I was looking to move from the city and university that I was studying at. I spoke to someone from Northumbria University at a recruitment event in the UK and the next thing I knew they offered to interview me. I travelled to Newcastle to meet some of the faculty and decided that this was the place that I wanted to come to.

I really like Newcastle because…

it’s a really friendly place. The people all accept me as someone who is living in their city and they are really easy going. Nothing is too much trouble. I live in private rented accommodation in the city centre and it is great for me, it means I can really enjoy all of the facilities that Newcastle has to offer.

I’m glad that I chose my particular course…

because I had some problems with the course and tutors at the last place that I studied. They weren’t helpful and you had to stand in line for a long time just to get to speak to someone. Here at Northumbria University it is very different. Everyone wants to help you and nobody wants to see you having problems. They always encourage you to ask questions early rather than too late.

If I had any advice about coming to Northumbria University it would be…

ask questions. You can find out so much about the course and the University before you get here, and then once you get here keep asking questions to make sure you understand everything.
