Northern Ireland

Why did you choose Northumbria University, Newcastle?

Course accredited by professional body (RICS). Recommended by friends.

What do you think of Newcastle and our region and what are your favourite things to do?

I love it! I enjoy going to St James' Park, I'm also taking part both the Blaydon Race and Great North Run this summer.

What has surprised you most about living in Newcastle and this region? What has impressed you most?

How friendly the locals are. They always make you feel like you belong here!

Did you find Northumbria University welcoming? Was it easy to fit in?

Yes very, the initial few weeks were structured in such a way to encourage integration with other course mates.

What have you enjoyed most about coming to Northumbria University?

The course is interesting and varied and really rewarding, I have enjoyed the social side of university, especially making lots of new friends!

Who has helped you most since you came to Northumbria?

The tutors in the Built Environment department are all very helpful and have made it a relaxed yet very effective learning environment.

What is your favourite place on campus?

Probably the Students' Union, followed in close second by the library (mainly due to the amount of hours spent there in the assignment and exam periods!)

What is the best thing about your course?

It is industry recognised and each day is never the same!

What are the most valuable lessons you have learnt to date?

Time management and the importance of forging good working relationships with other students. This is invaluable for any QS student!

Not yet but I am undertaking a 15 month placement in June with a major civil engineering contractor, giving me the opportunity to develop my skills further and experience life in my chosen profession.
