Which course are you studying?
Digital Marketing MSc
Please tell us a bit about your background and why you chose to study a Masters at Northumbria?
My interest in digital marketing was developed whilst studying graphic design at undergraduate.Design and marketing are becoming increasingly interconnected disciplines within the digital world through the rise in importance of design and development services such as content marketing and web design. I felt that the final step in my educational journey was to develop a specialist understanding of digital marketing. Taking this final step has filled me with the confidence that I needed to kick-start a future-proof professional career in an exciting new industry.
What is it like studying at Northumbria? What inspires you on your course?
The knowledge of the lecturers and their passion for the subject is inspiring. They understand the industry and bring in current practitioners so that students are kept abreast of trends and market sensibilities.
We are given a grounding in business theory, which I found really useful because I can see how it relates to my field. They value student contributions and push us to do the best work we can.
What doors do you think this course will open for you? How will your course help you #TakeOnTommorow?
The skills I have learned in analytics, social media and innovation in digital content will help me in the industry in which I work; to spot trends, change practice and test these approaches. I feel that my employability has increased; the digital sector has grown in the North East. There are more opportunities in the Creative Sector for those with an understanding of Digital Marketing.
What advice would you give to anyone considering a Masters at Northumbria?
Come along to an open day; the staff are friendly and honest - I was initially going to do a Business with Masters until it became clear that Digital Marketing was the best fit for me.
Make it work for you; be honest with yourself about how much time and energy you need- part time maybe the best option.
