Why did you choose Northumbria University, Newcastle?
The reputation of the nursing course offered here is excellent.
What do you think of Newcastle and our region and what are your favourite things to do?
As I am local I am biased to the north east. I think it is a fantastic place to live. The people are really friendly, there are fantastic museums and art galleries, which are my favourite places to visit.
Did you find Northumbria University welcoming? Was it easy to fit in?
I did feel Northumbria University was welcoming. I've previously studied at Newcastle, Sunderland and Durham Universities so knew what to expect. For anyone not having studied at university before it would have been more daunting. I've only been in attendance on my course for around six weeks so am still finding my feet. Everyone is friendly though. There are good facilities.
What have you enjoyed most about coming to Northumbria University?
Starting my course and making new friends.
Who has inspired you most at Northumbria University?
We have a lecturer, Jaden Allan, who is a very inspirational person. He makes lectures very informative, fun and puts us at ease. Thus making that transition into university life a lot easier.
What is your favourite place on campus?
The clinical skills campus, the wards where we carry out our practical lectures.
What is the best thing about your course?
The interesting content of the programme and the high standard of teaching.
What are the most valuable lessons you have learnt to date?
This is difficult to answer as I have only recently started my course. I suppose it is to attend lectures and use the library!
What do you want to do in the future? What skills have you learned/improved that you think will be of most use in your future career?
I would like to graduate and become a registered nurse. I have learned good communication skills and critical thinking, which are crucial to my proposed future career.
If you could offer some advice to students thinking of coming to study here what would you say?
It is a good university with good facilities and staff. Everyone is very welcoming.
How do you feel you have changed as a person since being at Northumbria University, Newcastle (e.g. confidence)?
I have gained confidence, especially in relation to my studies.
If you had 3 words to sum up your time with us what would they be?
Interesting, comsuming, friendly!
