Our Alumni - Work For Us
Ed began his career with a BSc in Genetics from Leicester University. After working for several years in research labs focussed on medical and human genetics, Ed completed a Master's degree in Bioinformatics, again at Leicester University. After becoming interested in the analysis of large biological datasets during this course, he subsequently moved to Newcastle University to study for a PhD in cancer genomics in Professor Steve Clifford's lab, where his project investigated the molecular sub-classification of the childhood brain tumour, medulloblastoma, using genetic and epigenetic techniques.
After finishing the PhD, he continued working at Newcastle University as a postdoc, where his primary research role involved the continuation of work that arising from his PhD and undertaking collaborative research with investigators based at Bonn University and Malawi.
In October 2013, Ed moved to Northumbria as a Senior Lecturer in Bioinformatics and Biostatistics. Since then, he has continued to investigate childhood cancers, aiming at helping translate biological insights into clinically meaningful tests, and has extensive experience in the analysis of complex biological datasets.
