Jack Howard

BA (hons) 3D Design

Where is your hometown?

Leeds

Why did you choose to study 3D Design at Northumbria University?

The diversity and range of the course.

What do you think of Newcastle and the North East, and what are your favourite things to do here?

Newcastle is an excellent city to live with so much going on both within the city and in the surrounding area. The people here are great and very welcoming to students. The live music scene is wonderful.

What is your favourite place on campus?

The Design Building.

Have you joined any sports teams, clubs or been involved in any volunteer projects?

The Surf Society.

What is the best thing about your course?

The range of projects we do and the huge variety of skills we learn as well as all of the lovely people involved in the course, staff and students alike.

How often do you see your tutors?

Everyday.

What are the facilities for 3D Design like?

The workshops are fantastic and the studios are a great place to work.

What do you want to do in the future?  And what skills have you learned on the 3D Design programme that you think will be of help?

At the moment I am unsure what my future holds or what I want to do. I know I definitely would like to leave the country and spend some time in other places for several years. The skills I have learned so far on the course are so transferable to so many aspects of life.

If you could offer some advice to students thinking of coming to study 3D Design what would you say?

Everything you draw doesn't have to be a work of art. Drawing is about communicating an idea to make it clear for other people to visualise what you mean - just draw.
