‘Gender Based Violence: Approaches to Education, Engagement and Elimination’ Seminar.

Funded by The Modern Law Review. Organised by Northumbria University’s Family Justice Research Interest Group in collaboration with the Legal Education and Professional Skills (LEAPS) Research Group.

We will be holding the above seminar on Thursday 17 June 2021. The seminar will take place online. We have a number of excellent international and national speakers presenting from academia and practice, and there is also an open call for papers.

Open Call for Papers

Papers are welcome on any topic related to the seminar theme. Paper presentations will be 20 minutes followed by 10 minutes at the end for questions.  Submissions are invited from anyone with an interest in this area, including both academia and support services. There will be a specific session dedicated to showcasing postgraduate and undergraduate research. If you are submitting an abstract as a PGR or undergraduate please note this when you send your abstract.  

If you are interested in presenting a paper, please send an abstract (250 words maximum) by email to genderbasedviolenceseminar@gmail.com. The deadline for sending an abstract is 1 April 2021. Acceptance of papers will be on a rolling basis with final acceptance no later than 1 May 2021.

Poster Competition

To allow maximum participation, all attendees and any PGR student (regardless of whether or not they are able to attend the seminar on the day) will be invited to display a poster on the subject of gender-based violence at the seminar. These will be on display virtually, with a poster competition being held during the lunch hour judged by invited speakers.

Please send all poster submissions by email to genderbasedviolenceseminar@gmail.com noting your institution/organisation and contact details. The deadline for submitting a poster is 1 June 2021.

Registration is free of charge. Please register your interest to attend by sending an email to genderbasedviolenceseminar@gmail.com. Please register your interest in attending as soon as possible and no later than 1 May 2021.
